The Summit keynote speaker is Harvard Professor Dr. Ronald Ferguson, who will share his latest research on parent involvement, including insights from his most recent book “Toward Excellence with Equity: An emerging vision for closing the achievement gap.” The subject of his presentation will be of great interest to PTAs and teachers, who are always trying to reach out to busy parents and parents of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. With our increasingly diverse county, the strategies presented by Dr. Ferguson will only become more important.
Three breakout sessions will give attendees practical skills to use at home including “how to motivate your student,” “structuring your home for school success,” and “family involvement strategies for busy parents.” Twenty table exhibits will feature FCPS resources and services, including career academies, school counseling, the College Success program, and advanced academics.
There will be free breakfast upon arrival. Be sure to register online here to expedite check-in.
